This design is where we wanted to really push the boundaries of what is phycisally possible in football design. Of course we could put a potato on the side of a helmet, but how could we do more?
Logo was simple. We knew we had to do a whole potato for simple reasons, but the details that happened while making it would drive the whole design.
Originally we had a “vegas” brown jersey with brown accents. Trying to thread the needle for the whole potato so that we represented all the ways they could be made. We all agreed that making it more of a white base to push the idea of mashed potatoes (the most popular potatoes on Thanksgiving) was the right move. Add in custom pattern designs in the numbers and leg stripes and it became more than just a whole jersey, but truly a potato based look.
HELMET & GLOVES
The question became this: “Can we make the whole helmet a baked potato?” We were worried when we pitched the idea to NBC in our initial brief. We definitely thought they would think we were stupid/crazy, but when they came back to us with ‘what if there is a tin-foil pattern as well, as if we wrapped it before we baked it?’… we knew we could have fun with it. But what if we cranked it up even further? What if we made award stickers as potato toppings?!
The Barn helped us take on the exciting task of revamping not only our logo, but our entire brand. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the attention to detail and assistance with project management from Nick and his team. <It> was terrifying, but The Barn made the process feel almost effortless and brought our vision to life in the most vivid way.
